“Love is the Key”

People say that Muslims are losing their religion but when looking at this group we see that it is in good shape.

Our Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim say the starting point of every association is, “Ati` Allaha wa ati`ur-rasula wa ulil-amri minkum” – “O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you.” [4:59]

Obedience (ta`at) is a good characteristic. To be obedient involves trust and love. The Sahaba (companions of the Prophet) obeyed Muhammad because they loved him (s) and believed in him (s). They knew he (s) was trustworthy because all his actions were trustworthy.

When you love someone, it is easy to obey him. So either you love Allah and obey Him, or you love Shaitan (Satan) and obey him. Many of us oscillate between good and bad during our daily lives because we obey our egos, when in reality we should obey Allah with every breath we take.

Adam listened to Shaitan on just one occasion and for that Allah threw him out of paradise to this earthly life (dunya). How many times do we disobey yet we do not even repent!

You have invited me to speak and requested I address the theme of unity. One must first ask: what unity? Until we focus around the name of Allah and the flag of tawhid (Oneness of God) – we will never unite. “Had Allah willed He could have made you (all) one nation.” [16:93]

If it were not for Muhammad (s) guiding us, and for Allah raising the name of Muhammad (s) to be with His Name, we would not be Muslims. Allah Himself praised His beloved servant (s).

Once I was shown a meaning of a verse of the Quran, that I had previously understood in a totally different way. It is the verse about Allah revealing the Quran to a mountain:

“If We had sent down this Quran to a mountain…” [a mountain being the strongest object on earth] “…surely you would see that mountain shatter”. [59:21]

This resembles the story in which Moses (as) was asking to see Allah. Instead Allah showed Himself to the mountain, which shattered.[1] But Muhammad (s) did not shatter. This shows us the greatness of our Prophet. He is not like us. – The Quran was revealed to him and he was strong. Allah, through His angels gave him strength and revealed the Holy Quran to his heart.

Muhammad (s) is our way. He is our door, our window and our tariqa [path of devotion and discipline]. Allah ordered the Prophet (s) to say: “If you love Allah, follow me.” [3:31] If you follow him (s) you will reach what you expect from Allah. This relationship to the Prophet is an obligation upon us up until Judgement Day. If you increase your love for Muhammad (s), Allah will guide you to his way. The Prophet (s) was created by Allah as a mercy to humanity, and he will always be so.

Praising the Prophet is a necessity. When a boy loves a girl, he talks about her incessantly. Why do we not feel the same way for the Prophet (s) and do the same? The only way to Allah is Muhammad (s). If we keep that in our heart we will be winners.

For the benefit of the ummah, [the religious community] we are allowed to make du`a [pray] for the best of things. The best thing that could happen now would be the appearance of Imam Mehdi. [whose coming presages the Last Times]. On the other hand, it is not recommended to ask directly for bad things such as the end of the world.

The way will not open for any one who wastes money. If you save money use it wisely, spend it in His Way. Allah will open your way to all goodness – in this life and the next.

And from Allah comes all success. Al-Fatiha.

[1]And when Musa came at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said: My Lord! show me (Thyself), so that I may look upon Thee. He said: You cannot (bear to) see Me but look at the mountain, if it remains firm in its place, then will you see Me; but when his Lord manifested His glory to the mountain He made it crumble and Musa fell down in a swoon; then when he recovered, he said: Glory be to Thee, I turn to Thee, and I am the first of the believers.” [7: 143]
