After morning worship, followed by breakfast, the Shaykh and entourage prepared to leave Durban for Johannesburg and Pretoria. On the way out we passed the gorgeous crescent of the Durban beach, followed by the shameful and degrading shantytowns which line the highways for miles, giving lie to the impression of overall prosperity and happiness conveyed by the modern Durban skyline. |

| Mawlana Shaykh lead salat al-Maghrib in a local mosque. Following salat the Imam introduced the children of the madarasa which is run by the mosque, on its premises, and which is a full time school. The children had prepared a set of recitations of Quran and tasbih for greeting the Shaykh. They gathered around and chanted these in a warm welcome. | ||
