Shaykh Nazim Leads Jumu'ah at Chiappini Mosque in Cape Town




Shaykh Nazim was khatib for Salat al-Jumu'ah at Cape Town's largest mosque - the Chiappini Mosque near downtown. There he was introduced to the congregation by Imam Mo'ti Saban, who is also Chief Welfare Officer of the Muslim Judicial Community. Mawlana delivered a sermon in English, after which adhan was called and the Sunnah prayers performed. Then following the second adhan, Mawlana delivered a brief khutba in Arabic and led the congregation of over 2000 in Salat al-Jumu'ah.

Following the prayers, hundreds of attendees stayed on after praying the Sunnah prayers to join the Shaykhs in performing salawat and salaam on the Prophet (s).

After Jumu'ah, many mureeds joined the Shaykhs in traveling to the beach. There they enjoyed splashing in the tidal pools and watching the tide come in on a clear and beautiful sunny day. The moment was brilliant with sunshine and enlightened by the nur of the Shaykhs.

Many felt they had briefly tasted Paradise and its sweetness that day, for it was filled with Dhikr, Salaat, and praise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s), in addition to walking on the beach and the rocky shore in the presence of Allah, the Glorious and Majestic, and His beautiful creation.



Following the sojourn to the Atlantic coast, the group traveled to the home of Mahmood Sablay. As has been our experience throughout our stay in the Western Cape, the dinner was excellent, lavish and elegantly served. This tastefully decorated home was honored by over 800 guests that night.

After the dinner, Shaykh Nazim stayed on to address the ladies of the community. The men left for Ghauthia Manzil, where they spent two hours listening to Shaykh Hisham give suhbat and asking him dozens of questions about the Naqshbandi Order. After Salat al-Isha, Mawlid was celebrated with salaat and salaam.
