Paarl

Shortly after breakfast, the jama`at took to the road accompanying Shaykh Nazim on a trip through the Western Cape countryside to a lovely town named Paarl. As Mawlana noted, the meaning of the name in English is "pearl", and what a pearl of a town it is.

Mawlana then was taken the short distance to Masjidunur in the city of Paarl. There he led Dhikr, gave a Sohbat and extended his hand for initiation by over 800 new mureeds.

Arriving at the home of a local mureed, all disembarked on the lovely homestead, and taking advantage of the excellent weather, basked in the shade as the sun beat down across the groves of palm trees.

Here mureeds partake dinner while Shaykh Hisham enjoys the balmy weather, giving quiet sohbat outside while Mawlana Shaykh is beseiged by mureeds inside.

Mawlana recited on this child, who is suffering from cancer.

Mawlana then was taken the short distance to Masjidunur in the city of Paarl. There he led Salat al-Maghrib. After introduction by the Imam, Mawlana made a powerful du`a.

Then the Shaykh gave a powerful Sohbat.

Mawlana then led Salat al-`Isha.

Mawlana then led Dhikr, with Imam Hassen Walele leading the chanting of Allah's most Holy Name.

Following the Dhikr came the call for Baya` - Initiation. This call was responded en masse, by over 1,000 new mureeds.

The men then came to greet Mawlana Shaykh, in seemingly endless waves.

Mawlana then extended his hand to the women, initiating over 300 new lady mureeds.


Following this they greeted the Shaykh, who prayed on each of them.
