Meeting with President of Afghanistan His Excellency Hamid Karzai

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai who is currently visiting the United States.

President Karzai held an animated discussion with ISCA's chairman.

They agreed on the importance of Sufism as ‎a bulwark against religious extremism in the region.

Shaykh Kabbani invited President ‎Karzai to be the keynote speaker at the WORDE conference of leaders and Islamic ‎scholars to be held in Southeast Asia later this year. ‎

President Karzai and a large entourage of ministers and officials of the Afghan government are in Washington DC to hold meetings with US government officials, NGOs and other agencies working to assist the new government of Afghanistan.

President Karzai presented the Shaykh with the gift of an elegant handmade Afghan rug.

Shaykh Kabbani also met with Afghan Minister of the Interior Mr. Ali Jalali and an advisor to the Ministry of Finance from the University of New York.
